John Tippets was born April 28, 1779 in Methan, Essex, Ma., and christened April 29, 1781 at the same place. He married Abigail Pearce at age 26, on January 21st, 1806. She was born May 27, 1789 in Groton, Middlesex, Ma. Her granddaughter Abigail Lodicia Tanner was most likely named after her. They were the parents of at least eight children. Abigail died November 3, 1837 in Liberty, Clay County, Missouri and John died in the same place sometime between 1845 and 1866.
Their son, John Harvey Tippets, was in the Mormon Battalion.
His father, John Tippets III was in Private James Jone's Company in the Revolutionary War, who marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775 to Concord: service, 4 days.
